The 1968
Disciplinare di produzione (Production
norms) sets as Valpolicella Doc wines
production area the municipalities of Negrar,
Marano, San Pietro in Cariano, Fumane,
Sant'Ambrogio (historical Valpolicella) and
those of Valpantena, Valley of Illasi, Valley of Mezzane
and Valtramigna.
The
classification “Classica”
distinguishes the historical region from the
"extended" one. It's a wide area with different
characteristics that, due to particular
properties of native grapes
(Corvina Veronese, Corvinone, Rondinella,
Molinara, Dindarella or Pelara, Oseleta,
Rossignola, Negrara, Forselina) and to
traditional production tecniques, determinates
the absolute peculiarity of Valpolicella wines.
The
Valpolicella Doc wine types are: Recioto,
Amarone, Valpolicella "Ripasso",
Valpolicella and
Valpolicella superiore. |
